GEO Score
The GEO Score is a metric measuring a website's visibility across five AI search engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, and Grok. It is one of the two components of the Rankeo Score.
What It Measures
The GEO Score evaluates three dimensions of AI engine visibility:
- Citation rate — How often each AI engine cites the domain when answering relevant queries
- Position — Where the domain appears in AI-generated answers (first citation vs buried at the bottom)
- Sentiment — Whether the AI engine presents the domain positively, neutrally, or negatively
The 5 Engines
Each engine has different citation logic. ChatGPT favors authoritative sources with clear structure. Perplexity prioritizes recent, well-sourced content. Gemini relies heavily on Google's Knowledge Graph. Claude weighs semantic coherence and entity density. Grok favors trending and real-time sources.
The GEO Score aggregates performance across all five engines, weighting each by market share and citation reliability.
