Demenagement Semantique

Demenagement Semantique (Semantic Migration) is the process of migrating a domain's semantic identity within the Knowledge Graph when repositioning, rebranding, or changing topical focus.

The Risk of Entity Confusion

When a domain changes its topical focus abruptly — for example, pivoting from "e-commerce tools" to "AI SEO platform" — the Knowledge Graph retains the old entity model. AI engines may continue associating the domain with its previous identity, creating entity confusion that degrades visibility in both the old and new categories.

Phased Replacement

Demenagement Semantique uses a phased approach:

  1. Audit current identity — Map all entities and relationships currently associated with the domain in the Knowledge Graph
  2. Bridge content — Create transitional content that connects old and new entity models
  3. Schema migration — Gradually update structured data to reflect the new identity while maintaining backward-compatible references
  4. Deprecate old entities — Once the new identity is established, remove old entity references
